The actors in my music video
This is the actor who will feature in my music video. Her
name is Sarah. Before we start filming I am going to ask her few questions
based around music and music videos. I think this would be interesting to know.
It’s great to receive a range of feedback from different people on their
thoughts of music and music videos. It’s good to know people’s views and their
taste on music as it’s so wide in today’s industry.
I believe that Sarah is the perfect person to star as the
artist/actor in my music video. She is reliable so she will not mess me around
when it comes to filming the video. I need her to be 100% sure with the days
and the times which she can do so it doesn’t delay my schedule which could have
serious effects on my coursework.
Sarah is also a
confident person which is an important element of my music video as she needs
to be comfortable when we start to film the scenes and I need to make sure she
doesn’t look awkward. As Sarah is head girl at her school she has to attend
meetings and speak in a lot of assemblies so she is defiantly used to being in
front of a lot of people, with this experience I think she would be relaxed in
front of the camera and find the filming fun as she enjoys the role she has at
the school.
In relation to the plot of the music video I believe that Sarah would be able portray the strong feelings and emotions that the actor has gone through. This is because Sarah has been in previous relationships so she understands what its like being hurt by someone and also going through a break up. I feel that she would be able to use her past experience to depict the strong, true emotions of a broken down relationship.
The majority of the locations where I will be filming Is
local to where I live and as Sarah literally lives 5 minutes away from me it
would not be difficult to get in touch with her and ask her to do some extra
filming if needed. My second actor in my music video will be playing the male role as the ex-boyfriend. The person who will be playing this role is my friend James and is also Sarah's boyfriend. I believe that James is great for the role as the boyfriend because him and Sarah suit well together also for obvious reasons as they are already in a real relationship. I also feel like he wouldn't be that uncomfortable when filming because he would be around Sarah which is someone who he knows very well and wouldn't feel awkward around. Whereas if it was a girl who James didn't know then he may look awkward in front of the camera which is not the impression which I want to give.
As both of the actors in my music video are good friends of mine I feel that they would be reliable when it comes to filming as I may need to re film some shorts.
I have already discussed a possible date with Sarah over text message weeks in advance of filming so I can make sure herself and James do not make any further plans in the upcoming weeks. This would allow me to secure a definite date and prepare me for when it comes to filming.

Audience feedback from my chosen song
As part of my audience feedback i put together a focus group of around 20 15 year old girls because they reach my audience profile.I played them my chosen song 'We are never ever getting back together' and asked them to right down there ideas of what they would expect to see in the music video. I purposly didn't use any closed questions because i wanted to recieve their honest opinion.
Below are some of the responses to my questionnaire.
I feel that this audience feedback is really useful and will help me for when it comes to producing my music video. It has given me some applicable ideas to which i can adapt to my video. I particulary like the idea of the girl writing diary entries and the boy and girl text fighting which 5 or 6 people wrote. I feel that i will be able to adapt this in my music video.

Audience profile
The demographic that I am aiming to target at is 12-17 year
olds and they would predominantly be females because of the way my music video
will be constructed and the lack of males that feature in the video. My
audience would have similar interests this would enable people to recognise
which genre of music they prefer. I believe that my music video would not be
able to appeal to an older audience because they may find it difficult trying
to identify the younger character. I feel that my music video would target a
British White audience due to the fact that the actors in the video are white
so therefore there is little ethnic diversity. Although, it doesn’t mean that
it may not appeal to various ethnic groups but because the characters do not
accentuate ethnic minorities my music video may not appeal to a wider audience.
The target audience would be able to relate to the issues
brought up in the music video so they would be able to relate to the artist and
the song. This is common in many pop music videos so I feel that I am following
the genre conventions well.
My target audience heavily use social networking sites such
as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Therefore, marketing and advertising the
music video through the digipak and advertisements through the use of social
media sites would be the most effective and I will be able to reach a wide
audience. It is also cheaper to advertise and promote on social networking
sites rather than the traditional methods such as trailers on the TV. It is
successful through word of mouth as videos can be shared by millions of people.
My music video
After thinking long and hard about which song I would like to do for my music video I have finally decided I am going to do the song ‘We are never getting back together’ which is by Taylor Swift. I have chosen this song because I personally really like it and I am also a big fan of Taylor Swift music. I find her that her music is fun, relatable and catchy which is why she is so successful in the music industry.

History of the song
The song ‘we are never getting back together’ was recorded by an American singer and song writer, Taylor Swift. The song features in her fourth album ‘Red’ which was released in 2012. The song was the lead single from the album on the 13th August 2013 by Big Machine Records. It was very successful because Rolling Stone named the song the second best song of 2012 and it took the fourth spot in Time’s end-of-year poll. It has also received a Grammy nomination for record of the year and also a People’s choice award nomination for favourite song of the year. It was the first song in Taylor Swifts career to reach number one on the Billboard hot 100.
What is the song about?
The song is about Taylor Swift’s frustrations towards an ex-boyfriend who wants to rekindle their relationship but she doesn't want to. This is depicted through the lyrics of the song and also the scenes and shots in the music video.
The plot of my music video
Overall the music video portrays the girl sharing her emotions and feelings as to why she is never going to get back together with her ex boyfriend. This is clearly shown through the lyrics of the video as the words depict negative thoughts and feelings towards him. This would allow the audience to understand and in some way relate to the artist as they may have gone through a similar situation in their past relationships. The different shots and scenes throughout the video portray the boy and girl having rough times in their relationship especially from the girls point of view including arguments and then her finally deciding that she doesn't want to be with him. However, in some parts of the music video it does show the reminiscing of the fun and good times which they had together and the girl wishing that it could always be like that. Yet, in conclusion the music video shows that the actor will be happier without him in her life, although they did spend some good times together and thought that there relationship would last forever unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. I believe that the music video will give the message towards other females who are in a tough relationships that they need to be strong like the artist in the video and stand up for themselves and do the right thing. I feel that people would be able look up to the artist and it shows that females are strong powerful characters.
Lyrics to the song
I remember when we broke up the first time
Saying, "This is it, I've had enough," 'cause like
We hadn't seen each other in a month
When you said you needed space. (What?)
Then you come around again and say
"Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change, trust me."
Remember how that lasted for a day?
I say, "I hate you," we break up, you call me, "I love you."
Ooh, we called it off again last night
But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never ever ever getting back together,
We are never ever ever getting back together,
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
Like, ever...
I'm really gonna miss you picking fights
And me falling for it screaming that I'm right
And you would hide away and find your peace of mind
With some indie record that's much cooler than mine
Ooh, you called me up again tonight
But ooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you
We are never, ever, ever getting back together
We are never, ever, ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
Ooh, yeah, ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Oh oh oh
I used to think that we were forever ever
And I used to say, "Never say never..."
Uggg... so he calls me up and he's like, "I still love you,"
And I'm like... "I just... I mean this is exhausting, you know, like,
We are never getting back together. Like, ever"
No!
We are never ever ever getting back together
We are never ever ever getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me
But we are never ever ever ever getting back together
We, ooh, getting back together, ohhh,
We, ooh, getting back together
You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)

In this copy of the lyrics to the song it does not include a
specific verse where Taylor Swifts voice changes intonation and instead of
singing she is speaking the lyrics. I think that this is a significant part of
the song because it shows the context in the song and shows Taylor Swift in a
different light without her singing. The dialogue uses colloquial relaxed
language creating a fun and friendly connection with the audience making it
seem like Taylor is talking to her friend, the friend being the audience. The
dialogue ‘like we are never getting back together, like ever’ is chatty and the
kind of language which two friends would be gossiping about discussing problems
with boys. This would allow the audience to be able to relate to Taylor Swift
creating a personal connection with her.
